KC’s Best Companies Think Green & Save Lives

April 11, 2008 by jclements

(Photo: Ferrellgas)

Three of Cells for Cells’ biggest partners were honored as Kansas City’s best employers in the March issue of Ingram’s Magazine.

But did you you know that these companies are leaders in RECYCLING? They recycled almost 1500 cell phones and hundreds of pounds of cell phone chargers and accessories in 2007.

Cells for Cells extends a gigantic congratulations to Ferrellgas, Burns & McDonnell, and Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP. A very special THANK YOU to Ferrellgas for mentioning Cells for Cells in their bio.

Ingram’s states, “In these workplaces, a feeling of happiness reflects the company culture. Employees are upbeat, turnover rates are minimal, and parking lots are empty soon after 5 by the boss’s design, all confirming that Kansas City is a desirable place to work and live.”

Certainly, part of that employee contentment comes from knowing they have raised thousands of dollars to help families that are battling cancer — through the simple act of recycling cell phones. Money raised goes directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s patient aid fund, which helps with medical bills, gas for the car, and expenses like that.

Once again, thank you and congratulations to Ferrellgas, Burns & McDonnell, and Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP. You are outstanding companies and you help fulfill the mission of Cells for Cells: Providing financial relief to families that are battling cancer.

World’s Smallest Cell Phone: Could it be the future of Communication?

March 26, 2008 by jclements

You have got to check this out: It is the world’s smallest cell phone. This is the link to Modu Mobile’s website.

The phone is as small as a matchbox or a stereo remote control – and it is so versatile. It appears to function as the “brains” that powers your other electronics: car/home stereo, mobile phone, gps device, handheld games, etc. The coolness factor is off the charts. I can’t wait to “recycle” our first one.

If you happen to come across one and can “donate” it, we would love to play with it.

Recycling Cell Phones Helps Real People

March 4, 2008 by jclements

This is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2008 Mission Video.

We thought it would be appropriate to endorse this video knowing that the money that Cells for Cells raises goes to help people just like these. It is a wonderful feeling to know that someone is being helped. So, if you know someone that has helped in any way, whether by donating their old cell phone or raising money, please let them know about this video.

Thank you again,

Jason

YOU helped us raise $10,000.00 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

January 11, 2008 by jclements

As we begin a new year, I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who donated cell phone to Cells for Cells. Thank you for making Cells for Cells a booming success in our first year. Without your cell phone donations, we would not have been able to help so many families that are battling cancer.

Though we only raised $15.75 in our first month (January 2007), that amount steadily grew. And by the end of December 2007, we had raised a total of $10,000.00 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society just by recycling your old cell phones.

Right now, that $10,000.00 is benefitting Kansas City families. My hope is that the families supported by Cells for Cells will find some relief from financial worry for a time. And I believe they will be comforted that so many of you have made an effort to help them.

Please congratulate and thank all of your employees for participating. Together, we’ve started something wonderful. And together, we are going to help many, many more families throughout the U. S. in the year to come.

NEXT STEPS TO HELP EVEN MORE FAMILIES BATTLING CANCER

· Let me know if you currently have more phones to donate.

· Write a testimonial of why you or your company got involved with Cells for Cells. Do you have a personal story?

· Use your influence to get other companies involved.

· Help us set our goal for 2008 – how can we raise $20,000 or $50,000 or $100,000?

Gratefully,

Jason Clements

Holly Brown – Cells for Cells Hero September 2007

October 25, 2007 by jclements

Holly Brown, wireless manager for UMB, is our Cells for Cells Hero for September 2007. Holly truly is a hero of the program.

When the Cells for Cells program was still in the “brainstorming” stage, Holly was the first to say “yes” to participating in the program. This year, Holly singlehandedly collected over 225 cell phones and has been one of the most vocal supporters of Cells for Cells. Holly was instrumental in implementing a company-wide cell phone collection drive at UMB which is currently ongoing. So if you are an associate at UMB and have not yet donated your old phone, please contact your wireless manager (and Cells for Cells Hero), Holly Brown.

Holly, on behalf of all of us at Cells for Cells and on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you for your enthusiastic support.

You are making a difference!
