Holly Brown – Cells for Cells Hero September 2007

October 25, 2007 by jclements

Holly Brown, wireless manager for UMB, is our Cells for Cells Hero for September 2007. Holly truly is a hero of the program.

When the Cells for Cells program was still in the “brainstorming” stage, Holly was the first to say “yes” to participating in the program. This year, Holly singlehandedly collected over 225 cell phones and has been one of the most vocal supporters of Cells for Cells. Holly was instrumental in implementing a company-wide cell phone collection drive at UMB which is currently ongoing. So if you are an associate at UMB and have not yet donated your old phone, please contact your wireless manager (and Cells for Cells Hero), Holly Brown.

Holly, on behalf of all of us at Cells for Cells and on behalf of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, thank you for your enthusiastic support.

You are making a difference!

Brett Fisher and Christina Conrad – Cells for Cells Heroes – July 2007

August 23, 2007 by jclements

This month, we honor two Cells for Cells Heroes: Brett Fisher and Christina Conrad. Both are interns at Kansas City based Burns & McDonnell. Together, Brett and Christina set a very bold goal of collecting 500 phones within 3 weeks. Because of their enthusiasm, they garnered the participation of Burns & McDonnell locations nationwide including Centennial, CO; Downers Grove, IL; San Francisco, Houston, St. Louis, San Diego, and Alpharetta, GA. Brett was even able to share the Cells for Cells story with a business connection at Kansas City based Roberts Dairy. . . Roberts Dairy donated cell phones, too!

In three short weeks, Brett and Christina collected a whopping 773 cell phones for Cells for Cells. They surpassed their collection goal by 155%. Wow! By doing so, Brett and Christina shattered the previous collection record of 122 cell phones held by UMB and the Polsinelli Law Offices.

We congratulate Brett and Christina for their initiative and determination. You both have made a difference!

Jeff Pickerill – Cells for Cells Hero – June 2007

August 1, 2007 by jclements

This month, we honor Jeff Pickerill as June’s Cells for Cells Hero. Jeff manages both T-Mobile kiosks in the Oak Park Mall in Overland Park, Kansas. Pictured with Jeff is Victoria Rodriquez and Jason Costigan.

After an initial “no” from T-Mobile corporate offices, Jeff sought and received special permission to collect phones for the Cells for Cells program. Jeff is now encouraging other T-Mobile locations to set up their kiosks as Cells for Cells drop-off points.

We honor Jeff for his outstanding initiative and valuable contribution to the Cells for Cells | Recycle for a Cure program.

Thank you, Jeff. You are making a difference!

By the way, if you need help with your T-Mobile account or if you need to upgrade to a MyFaves plan, just stop by and ask for Jeff, Victoria or Jason when you are at the Oak Park Mall. If you are near the Independence Center Mall, talk to Davon Stewart. Remember to take your old cell phone with you and drop it in the white Cells for Cells box.
